While "The Conjuring: Last Rites," the fourth installment in "The Conjuring" main series, has been touted as the "final chapter," that designation applies only to the core saga. Warner Bros. Pictures had already begun developing a spin-off series even before production started on the fourth film, and last month, rumors surfaced about another prequel movie also in the works.
Yesterday, acclaimed entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider further elaborated on his paid blog, The InSneider, reporting that the director and writing team for this prequel are nearing finalization.

Sneider revealed that emerging French director Rodrigue Huart is in negotiations to helm the untitled prequel. Additionally, screenwriting duo Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who penned "The Conjuring: Last Rites" and "The Nun II," are confirmed to return to write the script. Sneider was the first to break this news, which has since been corroborated by various major international outlets.
Sneider also asserted that James Wan, the architect of "The Conjuring" universe, who was reportedly embroiled in salary negotiation disputes with Warner Bros. Pictures last month, has now reached a new agreement with Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. Under this new deal, Wan will continue his involvement in the production of this prequel film and other related projects within the franchise.
