As production on "Avengers: Doomsday" progresses, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have once again ignited speculation. According to ScreenTime, their production company, AGBO Films, recently posted a mysterious video on social media, seemingly hinting at an unexpected connection between Iron Man and Doctor Doom. This could also lay explosive groundwork for the sequel, "Avengers: Secret Wars."

In the video, two AGBO employees stand back-to-back, one wearing an Iron Man mask and the other a Doctor Doom mask. As the camera circles them, the imagery appears to suggest a "two-sided mirror" relationship, symbolizing that they might be different facets of the same soul or opposing entities whose destinies are intertwined. This has led to speculation that Robert Downey Jr. might return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom.
In the background of the video, three costumes are displayed side-by-side: Sue Storm, Doctor Doom, and Franklin Richards. This aligns with the post-credits scene in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," where Sue encounters Doctor Doom and a young Franklin, further fueling fan speculation about the interconnectedness of the two projects.
According to the 2015 Marvel Comics event "Secret Wars," Doctor Doom saved the remnants of reality after the multiverse's collapse, creating a composite universe called "Battleworld" and declaring himself its supreme ruler. Even more shockingly, his queen was Sue Storm, and her children, Franklin and Valeria Richards, became Doom's stepchildren—an unforgivable ultimate insult to his archenemy, Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic.
Observers therefore speculate that the Russo Brothers might adapt this iconic storyline for the "Secret Wars" film, potentially using the concept of parallel universes to entangle the destinies of Iron Man and Doctor Doom. If true, this would be one of the most groundbreaking plot developments in MCU history.
The Russo Brothers have also frequently dropped hints on social media, including mentioning that "Doomsday" will incorporate "Avengers vs. X-Men" elements, setting the stage for the unfolding Multiverse Saga.
According to currently announced schedules, "Avengers: Doomsday" is set to release on December 18, 2026, with the sequel, "Avengers: Secret Wars," slated for December 17, 2027.
