BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan is set to release its latest product, the "HG 1/144 Zaku (GQ)", from the anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" on November 8, 2025. Ahead of its release, official new information including the product's box art design and actual sample images has been unveiled.
Although the MS-06 Zaku appearing in "GQuuuuuuX" has been reinterpreted in its external design by mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, its fundamental setting remains the same as the original "Zaku II" from "Mobile Suit Gundam." It is the main mass-produced MS used by the Principality of Zeon forces during the One Year War, boasting excellent machine performance, outstanding environmental adaptability, and an easily modifiable airframe. This allowed the Zaku to be widely deployed across various battlefields and led to the development of numerous specifications, making it a symbolic mobile suit of the Principality of Zeon.
The "HG 1/144 Zaku (GQ)" faithfully recreates Ikuto Yamashita's design style, which blends realistic industrial aesthetics with sci-fi elements. Compared to the original, it features unique designs such as thigh shapes composed of four spherical fuel tanks and large thruster nozzles directly positioned at the rear of the legs. The kit utilizes new parts and new molding colors to produce the characteristic military green paint scheme of the mass-produced Zaku, along with shoulder armor, shoulder shields, and fuel tank designs that differ from the military police Zaku.
The head's mono-eye camera and the connection points of the shoulder shield both feature movable mechanisms. The torso and limbs also boast highly flexible articulated joint designs, allowing for dynamic and powerful poses when combined with armaments such as the Zaku Machine Gun, Heat Hawk, and the newly molded Zaku Bazooka.
