GUNDAM BASE, Japan's official Gunpla flagship store for 'Mobile Suit Gundam,' has announced detailed information for its latest limited-edition product from 'Gundam Build Fighters,' the 'MG 1/100 Sengoku Astray Gundam [Metallic Finish],' which will be available for sale at various stores starting November 22, 2025.
The Sengoku Astray Gundam is a Gunpla created by American Gunpla Fighter Nils Nielsen. This mobile suit is a modification of the Astray Red Frame Gundam, incorporating his research into Plavsky particle knowledge and technology, his expertise in Japanese martial arts, and his admiration for Japanese samurai culture into its design. Its two Japanese katana-style physical swords, 'Kiku-ichimonji' and 'Kotetsu,' feature a particle phase-shift coating, allowing them to cut through enemy beams and launch sword energy attacks. Even unarmed, it can unleash a 'Particle Fa Jin' attack, akin to Qigong, to destroy the internal structure of enemy mobile suits.
The 'MG 1/100 Sengoku Astray Gundam [Metallic Finish]' is based on the regular release kit from 2014. All characteristic red frame, armor, and shield parts have been adjusted to a metallic red molding color, while the white armor uses a pearlescent white molding color with a pearl-like texture. The combination of these two glossy finishes creates a metallic aesthetic. The 'Kiku-ichimonji' and 'Kotetsu' swords, like the regular version, feature silver plating on their blade parts.
Aside from the color scheme, the specifications are essentially the same as the regular version. The frame precisely recreates the contours resembling human musculature and boasts flexible articulation. The shoulder armor faithfully reproduces the built-in mechanical arm deployment mechanism. Both samurai swords can be stored in the shoulders when not in use and can be wielded with both hands or the mechanical arms. The 'Oni no Tate' (Ogre Shield) mounted on the back can also be deployed upwards and downwards and held with both hands.
