"Boyhood" director Richard Linklater, who has seen two well-received new films, "Nouvelle Vague" and "Blue Moon," released this year, remains at the peak of his creative output. In a recent interview with "Filmmaker Magazine," Linklater revealed he is preparing to shoot a period drama that has been in development for over two decades, with several stars already attached to the lead roles.

Linklater stated that the film will explore the rise of the Transcendentalism literary movement. The story centers on three pioneering figures who spearheaded this intellectual liberation: philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, biologist Margaret Fuller, and writer and poet Henry David Thoreau. Linklater's longtime collaborator Ethan Hawke is confirmed to play Emerson, Natalie Portman will portray Fuller, and Oscar Isaac is set to star as Thoreau.

Linklater noted that the film is set in the 1830s and 1840s of the 19th century and will also delve into the nascent beginnings of feminism, abolitionism, and environmentalism. Despite being in development for over two decades, Linklater expressed confidence that principal photography would begin soon, crediting individuals who are actively helping him bring the project to fruition and expressing gratitude for their assistance.
