Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" Anime Series Confirmed, Premiering Exclusively on Disney+ in 2027!

Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, developed by Kojima Productions, made waves with its 2019 release, captivating players with its expansive world and unique gameplay. Now, six years later, fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel, "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," set to launch this June.

But the journey doesn't end there! Disney Asia Pacific officially announced today (11/13) a brand-new animated series based on the game, titled "DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS" (working title). This highly anticipated show will debut exclusively on Disney+ Star globally in 2027, with the first concept art also revealed.

This anime adaptation won't follow the story of the game's protagonist, Sam Porter Bridges. Instead, it will delve into the lives of "another group of nameless individuals" existing in the same era and world. The series will explore the struggles of those who are isolated and alone in a world on the brink of extinction, yet still yearn for "connection" with others. This narrative choice perfectly extends the core theme of "Connection" that defines "Death Stranding."

And talk about a dream team behind the scenes!

Original Creator / Executive Producer: Hideo Kojima
Animation Production: E&H production (known for "BULLET/BULLET" & "Ramen Akane")
Director: Takayuki Sano (marking his directorial debut after extensive work as an animator)
Original Character Designer: Ilya Kuvshinov (character designer for "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045")

The newly released concept art features the silhouettes of a boy and a girl, with familiar "Death Stranding" gear and items visible in the frame. What destiny awaits them as they gaze into the distance? Their journey promises to unravel entirely new mysteries.

With "DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS" hitting Disney+ Star globally in 2027, fans worldwide are buzzing with excitement. Stay tuned for more official updates!
