This Guy Promised to Buy an IKEA Shark for Every 100 Likes. His House Got Absolutely Swallowed by Them!

IKEA's beloved BLÅHAJ shark plushie, affectionately dubbed the "IKEA Shark" by fans, has become a global sensation, spawning countless memes, viral fashion statements, and even becoming a popular travel companion for photo ops.

Recently, a Japanese X (formerly Twitter) user kicked off a challenge: "I'll buy one IKEA shark for every 100 likes." What started as a fun idea quickly spiraled into internet legend as users flooded his post with likes, resulting in his entire home being absolutely overrun by sharks – and turning him into an instant online celebrity.

The user, video creator Takumi (@happy_takumikun), launched his self-imposed challenge in early October. His initial thought? "Oh, it's just a small project, probably won't get too many likes."

Well... the internet had other plans. Likes poured in, skyrocketing past 360,000! This meant Takumi had to buy an entire ocean of sharks, transforming his home into a full-blown "shark sanctuary." Seriously, never underestimate the power of the internet.

▼ He initially thought, "Pure bliss!!!!"

▼ But later, he could only post, "My house is completely doomed LOL," sharing photos of his room utterly submerged in plush sharks. Take a peek... the entire space is packed with dozens, maybe even hundreds, of shark plushies. The floor is completely gone, replaced by a vast, blue-grey sea of sharks. One shark is cute, but this many at once? The visual impact is off the charts.
Though for shark enthusiasts, this might just be a dream come true.

The comment section absolutely exploded: "Bet I could snag one and no one would notice lol," "No room to even stand, I'm dying laughing," "I wanna jump into that pile of sharks so bad!!!" "Is this guy a wholesaler now?" and "You wouldn't even get hurt if you fell, the sharks would totally catch you XD!"

It just goes to show, whether it's in Taiwan or Japan, never underestimate the internet's collective power when it comes to these kinds of viral challenges. And honestly, after buying that many sharks, maybe IKEA should consider a sponsorship deal, right? XD
