ONKYO's sub-brand, ANIMA, has previously dropped some seriously cool collaborations with hits like SPY x FAMILY, BanG Dream! MyGO/Ave Mujica, and the mobile game Blue Archive, all of which were a massive hit with fans.
Now, they're teaming up with the iconic mecha anime "Eureka Seven," which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! ANIMA is launching a special edition "ANIMA AOW04" wireless Bluetooth earbud set, inspired by the series' protagonists, Renton and Eureka. Priced at 18,000 JPY, these bad boys are available for order right now on the ONKYO official website.
"Eureka Seven" (also known as "Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven") was a joint production by Bandai Entertainment and BONES, first airing in 2005. The story follows 14-year-old Renton Thurston, a huge fan of "lifting" (a form of aerial surfing), whose life changes forever after a chance encounter with Eureka, a mysterious girl who pilots a massive LFO (Light Finding Operation) robot. Renton joins the anti-government group Gekkostate and grows through countless battles, slowly uncovering the hidden truths of the world he never knew existed.
The saga continued with the sequel "Eureka Seven: AO," which premiered in 2012. Later, the official team announced a new theatrical trilogy, "Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution," with the first film hitting screens in 2017 and the trilogy officially concluding in 2021.
These "ANIMA AOW04" earbuds are a fresh collaboration from ANIMA and ONKYO, designed to fuse subculture vibes with a premium audio experience. They boast Bluetooth 5.3, IPX4 water resistance, AAC codec support, and even an external sound passthrough function. Plus, they're wireless charging compatible! Equipped with the highly acclaimed CoClear vibration unit, the sound quality is also top-notch.
This collaboration features two distinct themes: Renton and Eureka. Each design includes a unique charging case and earbuds. The charging cases sport the series' English title and character names, while the earbuds themselves feature iconic elements corresponding to each character – like Renton's lift board and Eureka's wing motif.
But the real showstopper? The custom voice prompts recorded by the characters' original voice actors! Yuko Sanpei (Renton) and Kaori Nazuka (Eureka) are incredibly popular, and now you can hear their voices for everything from power on/off to Bluetooth connection and touch controls. Fans can fully immerse themselves in the world of "Eureka Seven" with every interaction.
