Fans have been clamoring for more of Carlo Zen's light novel series, "Saga of Tanya the Evil," ever since its TV anime adaptation dropped way back in 2017. But for years, news of a second season was nowhere to be found.
Well, buckle up, because the official announcement just hit today (11/28): "Saga of Tanya the Evil" Season 2 is officially happening and slated for a 2026 premiere! After a nine-year hiatus, the anime is making its grand return, complete with a brand-new teaser visual and promotional video.

For the uninitiated, "Saga of Tanya the Evil" follows an elite Japanese salaryman from the early 21st century who, after living a life of extreme rationalism, gets offed by a vengeful colleague. Post-mortem, a self-proclaimed "Being X" (aka God) reincarnates him as an orphaned girl named Tanya von Degurechaff in a war-torn magical world. Armed with hyper-realism and ruthless tactical brilliance, Tanya navigates the brutal battlefield, determined to survive.

There's one notable change behind the scenes: Yutaka Uemura, the original anime director, is passing the baton to Takayuki Yamamoto. Yamamoto has a strong background in episode direction and animation, with credits on hits like "My Hero Academia" and "Bungo Stray Dogs."
Yamamoto shared his excitement, stating, "It's a huge honor to be involved with 'Saga of Tanya the Evil.' We're currently working hard with an incredibly talented production team, so please bear with us a little longer!"

Good news for fans of the original cast: the voice actors from Season 1 are all set to return! Studio NUT is back at the helm for animation production, and Yuji Hosogoe is once again handling character designs. Essentially, it's the dream team back together, with just a new director leading the charge.

We know countless fans have been waiting for this second season for ages, so keep those eyes peeled for more official updates on the exact broadcast date!
