During a recent appearance on "The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast," hosted by his friend and "American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis, Quentin Tarantino not only ranked "Battle Royale" as the 11th greatest film of the 21st century so far but also took the opportunity to blast "The Hunger Games" series. He accused Suzanne Collins' popular novels of being a blatant rip-off of the "Battle Royale" book.

Tarantino stated on the show: "I do not understand how the Japanese writer didn't sue Suzanne Collins for every f***ing thing she owns. They just ripped off the f***ing book! Stupid book critics are not going to go watch a Japanese movie called 'Battle Royale,' so the stupid book critics never called her on it. They talked about how it was the most original f***ing thing they'd ever read. As soon as the film critics saw the film, they said, 'What the f***? This is just 'Battle Royale' except PG!'"

Coincidentally, "The Hunger Games" film series star Josh Hutcherson recently attended the premiere of his new film, "Five Nights at Freddy's 2." At the event, Variety magazine seized the chance to ask Hutcherson for his thoughts on Tarantino's comments. Hutcherson responded: "There are similar themes, for sure. But, you know, everyone borrows from everyone."
