Acclaimed "geek god" director, writer, and actor Kevin Smith is gearing up for a third installment in his beloved "Jay and Silent Bob" comedy series. Following the 2001 cult classic "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," Smith brought the duo back to the big screen in 2019 with "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot" after an 18-year hiatus. While the sequel's box office performance wasn't stellar, it resonated strongly with audiences, fueling Smith's confidence to pursue another chapter. However, bringing a new "Jay and Silent Bob" film to fruition comes with its own set of challenges.

Smith recently revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the third film was originally slated to begin production this year. However, due to unforeseen economic factors, Canadian investors abruptly withdrew their funding, forcing the production to a halt. The team now plans to relocate and commence filming next year, though Smith did not disclose the new shooting location.

Reflecting on the cancellation of the initial Canadian production plan, Smith admitted to feeling a significant degree of self-blame. He recalled believing that the setback was his fault, reasoning that a more successful career would have enabled him to personally finance his artistic projects without needing to seek external funding. Consequently, he felt he had no right to complain about the situation.
