Nintendo Switch's fitness game, Ring Fit Adventure, has been a massive hit since its launch, offering the perfect solution for anyone wanting to work out at home. Recently, Japanese media outlet Nikkan SPA! interviewed Hiroyuki Higo, a member of the comedy duo "Cellulite Spa," who revealed his insane dedication to the game: he's been playing "Ring Fit Adventure" for "50 minutes every day for five years straight!" Even after maxing out all his stats, he's still at it, and his story has blown up on Japanese X (formerly Twitter).

"Ring Fit Adventure" tracks your cumulative workout data, but for Higo, who's been at it for five years, his stats have entered "bug-like" territory. He chuckled, "My total calories burned hit 99999.99 kcal years ago and just capped out.
My level? That hit 999 about two years back and also capped. So now none of my numbers move, but I still play every single day. Nintendo, please, an update! Or just give us a sequel already (laughs)."
Interestingly, Higo didn't start playing to beat the game or grind stats. He explained, "When the pandemic hit a few years ago and I was barely leaving the house, I was looking for a way to exercise at home. My comedy partner is already on the heavier side (Osuga: 164 cm / 84 kg), and if I got fat too, it wouldn't look right on screen (laughs). Then I saw quiz show writer Yohei Furukawa had lost a ton of weight using this game, and I thought, 'That's it!' I bought it immediately."
After starting, he played for 50 minutes every day (with about 30 minutes of actual exercise), and the results were dramatic. He joked, "I just wanted to avoid gaining weight, but I ended up losing 10 kg! My muscle strength improved, and I don't get tired as easily anymore. And here's a bonus: I love karaoke, and now I can hit notes about two keys higher than before!"

As his body transformed, "Ring Fit Adventure" became a daily ritual for Higo. What started as just weight management soon turned into an obsession with the in-game stats.
Higo recounted, "When I hit Level 99, I wondered, 'Is there more?' Then I broke 100 and realized it wasn't over. I kept playing, and around my second year, I hit Level 999. I thought maybe it would go even higher, but nope, that was the cap. Calories capped around the same time. So, with absolutely no numbers moving, I've kept playing for another three years."

Usually, whether it's gaming or fitness, stat progression is the biggest motivator. So, why did he keep going for three more years after all that disappeared?
"Honestly... it's really not fun at all anymore (laughs). While I'm playing, all I'm thinking is, 'Nintendo, please, update this thing!' Now I'm just constantly running around the map. All the bosses were defeated years ago, and there's no one at any of the finish lines. The scattered minor enemies are so weak they can't even hit me; I think the last time I took damage was three years ago. So, even I'm not sure what I'm chasing anymore (laughs)."

Despite his current "struggle," many netizens have expressed their respect for Higo's unwavering dedication. To stick with something daily for five years truly shows incredible commitment and highlights how "Ring Fit Adventure" genuinely helps people achieve a healthier physique.

Becoming a "persistence monster" so naturally is definitely a rare talent. As for whether Nintendo will drop an update or a sequel to "Ring Fit Adventure," well, we'll just have to wait and see!
