Today (12/19), Netflix officially announced that Season 2 is a go! Since its debut on November 13, the series has sparked massive buzz both in Japan and globally, leading to this lightning-fast renewal.
Set in the Meiji era, the story plunges 292 masterless samurai into a deadly battle royale called "Kodoku" at Kyoto's Tenryu-ji Temple. They're all fighting for a massive cash prize in a brutal, blade-clashing survival game. The star-studded cast features Junichi Okada, Yumeya Fujisaki, Kaya Kiyohara, Masahiro Higashide, Shota Sometani, Taichi Saotome, Yuya Endo, Yasushi Fuchikami, Kairi Jyo, Takayuki Yamada, Wataru Ichinose, Riho Yoshioka, Kazunari Ninomiya, Hiroshi Tamaki, and Hideaki Ito.
After its launch, "Ikusa-Gami" quickly became a binge-watching sensation, hitting #1 on Netflix's Global Top 10 (Non-English TV) and landing in the Top 10 in 88 countries and regions worldwide. Domestically in Japan, it dominated the weekly charts for four consecutive weeks from its premiere, proving its immense popularity with undeniable numbers.
