Madoka Magica Takes Over Tokyo Skytree with "Waltz of a Moonlit Night" Exhibit This January

Tokyo's iconic landmark, the Tokyo Skytree, is no stranger to epic anime collaborations, having previously hosted massive events for series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Detective Conan that drew in crowds of fans. Its combination of stunning high-altitude views, immersive exhibit designs, and spectacular tower lighting effects has made it a premier event destination.

Now, it's teaming up with Puella Magi Madoka Magica to celebrate the upcoming film, Walpurgisnacht: Rising, which hits theaters next February. The new collaboration, titled "Waltz of a Moonlit Night," will transform the Tembo Galleria—a staggering 450 meters above ground—into an exhibition that brings the anime's world to life. Packed with massive displays for photo ops, the event will run from January 8 to April 6, 2026, offering fans a chance to fully immerse themselves in the series' atmosphere.

The venue is loaded with incredible photo spots spread across seven distinct exhibition zones. Each area features unique installations and decorations for fans to capture the perfect shot.

(Heads up: The event takes place in the Tembo Galleria, located between the 445 and 450-meter levels, not the lower 400-meter area!)

▼ Zone 1 - "Gate of Beginnings" Sky-Piercing Elevator

Your journey begins in the elevator, where custom animations featuring the cast of *Madoka Magica* will play on three walls, building the atmosphere as you ascend into the sky.

▼ Zone 2 - "Foyer of a Moonlit Night" Welcome Area

Step out into a welcome area featuring a photo spot with exclusive new character art set against a Skytree backdrop. Behind it, the sprawling Tokyo cityscape provides a breathtaking view, offering a different kind of beauty whether you visit during the day or at night.

▼ Zone 3 - "Ring of Promise" Corridor Area

Stroll through the winding corridor, which is lined with massive, custom-made panels of each character. It's the perfect place to take photos while enjoying the endless views of Tokyo from the side.

▼ Zone 4 - "Ring of Promise" Turnaround Point ①

At the end of the corridor, more than 400 meters in the air, you'll find a special backdrop featuring an illustration of Madoka and Homura, allowing fans to snap a picture alongside the iconic duo.

▼ Zone 5 - "Path of Resolve" Turnaround Point ②

This area is decorated with themed displays combining iconic character pairings from the *Madoka Magica* anime with their memorable lines, letting you relive and immerse yourself in the story.

▼ Zone 6 - "Lamp of Wishes" The Sorcerer's Apex

At the highest point of the entire exhibition, screens mounted on the walls will display classic lines from the anime, accompanied by character voiceovers and sound effects.

▼ Zone 7 - "Final Chapter of Memories" Mini Photo Spot

Featuring simple character standees against the backdrop of the Tokyo skyline, this spot is perfect for taking photos with your own favorite character merch.

Additionally, near the elevator entrance, a special photo service is available for 1,700 JPY. You can get a professional photo taken with the characters, which comes in an exclusive commemorative mount for you to take home. With the stunning high-altitude view of Skytree as your background, you'll also receive a special collectible card, with nine different designs to choose from.

Down on Floor 340, the "SKYTREE CAFE" will be serving themed desserts & drinks, so you can enjoy some delicious treats while exploring the exhibit. Naturally, the entire menu is specially designed around the series.

Madoka's Strawberry Drink & Homura's Grape Soda

Mami's Fruit Drink & Sayaka's Blue Soda

Kyoko's Cranberry Drink & Nagisa's Cheesecake-style Drink

Kyubey's White Sauce Gratin & Walpurgisnacht Parfait

Each item ordered comes with a random coaster (7 designs in total).

The "SKYTREE ROUND THEATER( R )," a massive 360-degree screen surrounding the observation deck, will play classic animated scenes from *Puella Magi Madoka Magica* at scheduled times each day. The visuals will likely be paired with music, promising a powerful and nostalgic experience for fans of the anime.

During the exhibition period, the Tokyo Skytree's exterior lighting will cycle through six different color schemes inspired by the characters, changing approximately every 2.5 minutes.

▼ The characters are: Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi, Mami Tomoe, Sayaka Miki, Kyoko Sakura, and Nagisa Momoe.

Special ticket packages featuring "newly drawn illustrations" will also be available. These bundles include an admission ticket for the Skytree observation decks (Tembo Deck + Tembo Galleria) and a printed illustration (6 random designs). The print also doubles as a full 2026 calendar.

(Ticket packages can be purchased at 7-Eleven Ticket in Japan.)

A wide variety of related merchandise will also be sold at the venue. With so many items available, interested fans should check the official Skytree collaboration website for the full lineup.
