Detective Conan, a beloved staple for years, is set to hit a major milestone next year: its 30th anime broadcast anniversary! Not only is the TV anime still going strong, but its annual theatrical films consistently smash box office records.
To kick off the 30th anniversary celebration, the official "Detective Conan" team announced that starting January 10th, new episodes will feature a brand-new opening theme, "Heaven Knows," performed by B'z. The news instantly became a hot topic online, marking B'z's eighth collaboration with "Detective Conan" for an anime song.
▼ The announcement of "Heaven Knows" immediately trended on X.
The collaboration between Conan and B'z dates back to 1999 with "Giri Giri chop" and has continued ever since. This marks their return to the TV anime OP after a four-year hiatus since 2022's "SLEEPLESS," and it's their eighth song for the TV series.
▼ Conan fans surely have fond memories of "Giri Giri chop," B'z's very first opening theme for the series.
The new opening theme is titled "Heaven Knows." Both members of B'z also shared a special message congratulating the anime on its 30th anniversary and expressed their thoughts on once again contributing to Conan's music.
"Congratulations to the 'Detective Conan' TV anime on its 30th anniversary! Over the years, B'z has collaborated with Conan on various songs. Looking back, Conan-related music has been a constant presence, like signposts throughout our lives. We're incredibly excited to once again provide an opening theme for this momentous 30th anniversary, after such a long time. It would be truly wonderful if 'Heaven Knows' can add even more momentum to 'Detective Conan.' Please look forward to it!"
Additionally, as previously announced, Mai Kuraki will be handling the new ending theme. Starting January 10th, these two powerhouse artists who have long accompanied "Detective Conan"—B'z and Mai Kuraki—will both contribute new songs to celebrate the anime's 30th anniversary.
Currently, the official "Detective Conan" YouTube channel is also releasing a compilation of all past opening and ending animations, allowing fans to revisit Conan's 30-year journey through classic songs and visuals.
