"Deadpool & Wolverine" director Shawn Levy is currently deep into production on his upcoming "Star Wars" spinoff film, "Star Wars: Starfighter." In a recent interview with The New York Times, Levy revealed a surprising on-set visit: not only did a superstar drop by, but the actor also personally participated in shooting one of the film's action sequences.

Levy was referring to none other than Tom Cruise, whose visit occurred last November. He recalled, "Steven Spielberg was here last week, and now Tom Cruise is operating a camera, getting his nice shoes all muddy."
Levy continued, explaining that Cruise initially intended only to observe. However, as Levy was setting up an underwater lightsaber duel, he jokingly suggested Cruise help operate a camera. To Levy's astonishment, Cruise actually walked into the muddy pond, professionally and intently picked up the camera, and assisted with the shoot. Levy excitedly exclaimed, "When you see the movie, you'll know that part of it was shot by Tom. How cool is that?!"
The "Starfighter" cast includes Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, Matt Smith, Simon Bird, Amy Adams, Aaron Pierre (who will portray DC's new Green Lantern John Stewart), and rising child star Flynn Gray, among others.
The screenplay was penned by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on "This Is Where I Leave You" and "The Adam Project." Set several years after the events of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," the film follows Gosling's Jedi character as he attempts to train his 15-year-old nephew, only for them to be pursued by a villainous duo during their mission. The film is slated for a North American release on May 28, 2027.
