While "Mamma Mia! 3" has been confirmed to be in development, details remain scarce, with no official announcement regarding who will helm the highly anticipated sequel. The first film was directed by Phyllida Lloyd ("The Iron Lady"), while Ol Parker ("Ticket to Paradise") took the reins for the second installment. The question of whether one of them would return or a new director would step in has been a topic of speculation. Now, it seems star Amanda Seyfried may have inadvertently spilled the beans ahead of Universal Pictures.

During a recent interview promoting her new film "The Testament of Ann Lee" with director Mona Fastvold, Seyfried seemingly confirmed the director for the third film. In the interview clip (linked above), Fastvold jokingly suggested she had already taken on the directorial role, to which Seyfried earnestly clarified: "Oh no, Paul Feig is directing. He just signed on a few weeks ago. He got ahead of us. We were talking about the third movie the other day, and he agreed."
Paul Feig recently worked with Seyfried on "The Housemaid," which likely provided the opportunity for them to discuss his involvement in "Mamma Mia! 3." While Feig is not known for musicals, his expertise in comedy aligns well with the lighthearted, joyful tone of the "Mamma Mia!" franchise, suggesting he could be an excellent fit for the project.
