Get ready, anime fans! Netflix, one of the world's largest entertainment streaming platforms, has officially announced a strategic partnership with Japanese animation studio MAPPA, the powerhouse behind smash hits like "Chainsaw Man" and "Jujutsu Kaisen."
This dynamic duo is teaming up to push new anime projects targeting the global market, building a complete content ecosystem from story planning and production to merchandise development. The plan is for multiple MAPPA-produced anime series currently in development to launch exclusively on Netflix, streaming simultaneously to members in over 190 countries and regions worldwide.

MAPPA has always defied traditional animation production norms, championing creative freedom and passion while constantly challenging new possibilities in both artistic and commercial realms. Take "Chainsaw Man," for example, where the studio spearheaded IP development and merchandise strategy. Then there's "Jujutsu Kaisen," which exploded into a global phenomenon, becoming a prime example of Japanese anime successfully conquering the international stage.
Netflix stated that its deep admiration for MAPPA's "studio-centric, proactively involved, and challenge-driven" creative philosophy is what drove this deeper collaboration. They hope to support MAPPA every step of the way, turning these ambitious challenges into tangible successes.

Netflix also shared some impressive internal data, revealing that over 50% of its global members—roughly 300 million people—are watching anime. What's more, anime viewership has tripled over the past five years. These figures clearly show that Japanese anime is no longer a niche subculture but is rapidly becoming a core part of mainstream global entertainment.
Netflix has previously featured several MAPPA productions, including "Kakegurui Twin" (released in 2022) and "Ranma 1/2" (streaming in 2024 and 2025). With this new strategic partnership, multiple brand-new anime projects are already in simultaneous development and production.

Through this collaboration, Netflix aims for "global simultaneous release," ensuring that audiences worldwide can enjoy MAPPA's latest works instantly. Netflix also emphasized its commitment to fully respecting the creative environment and expertise of animation studios, helping to amplify the potential of Japanese anime studios on the global stage.
Netflix stated: "This deepened partnership with MAPPA will serve as a new model for anime production and business, centered around 'studio autonomy.'"
