Today, the big reveal dropped: the 55th anniversary film is a brand-new entry in the Kamen Rider Agito series, titled "Agito - Psychic War -", hitting theaters across Japan on April 29th. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual, special trailer, and comments from actors Jun Kaname, Toshiki Kashu, and producer Shinichiro Shirakura were released.

The "Kamen Rider Film Project" officially began its countdown on the 7th, unveiling 11 potential films on the 17th. After much anticipation, "Agito - Psychic War -" was finally revealed as the chosen 55th anniversary feature.

The film ultimately chosen for the 55th anniversary is a fresh take on Kamen Rider Agito, titled "Agito - Psychic War -". This classic Heisei Rider series holds the highest average viewership rating (11.7%) to date and was the first Heisei Rider to receive a theatrical film, truly ushering in a new era for the franchise.
This new film boldly drops "Kamen Rider" from its title, breaking free from existing conventions. It's positioned as a psychic action film that adults can thoroughly enjoy, venturing into an entirely new style.

Jun Kaname takes the lead role. Recently seen in the "Kingdom" series and confirmed to play Mitsuhide Akechi in the 2026 NHK Taiga drama "Toyotomi Brothers!", Kaname actually made his debut in Kamen Rider Agito, where he played police officer Makoto Hikawa / G3 in the TV series.
What's more, Toshiki Kashu, who played Shoichi Tsugami / Agito, is also returning! The original cast is reuniting in full force, including Hitomi Fujita, Jun Yamasaki, Akio Shibata, Takeshi Masu, Rina Akiyama, Kimimasa Tanabe, and Takanori Higuchi, guaranteeing a massive nostalgia hit.

Producer Shinichiro Shirakura commented:
"What exactly is 'transformation'? Is it a physical change? Or donning armor? For 55 years, there hasn't been a single definitive answer.
It's precisely that ambiguity that defines a Rider. Makoto Hikawa doesn't transform, he has no special powers; he relies only on his physical body and equipment, yet he crosses the line between humans and monsters. For the 55th anniversary, we wanted to tell a 'transformation' story that only Kamen Rider can deliver."

Synopsis: A World Where Psychic Powers Awaken
The story is set in a world where humans are rapidly awakening psychic abilities. With some abusing their newfound powers, crime runs rampant, plunging society into chaos. Standing against this tide is police officer Makoto Hikawa. He possesses no psychic powers, nor is he a transforming Rider. Armed only with his will and conviction, he stands on the front lines of this escalating turmoil.
The film centers on Makoto Hikawa, weaving a profound narrative of human struggle intertwined with psychic action. The teaser visual, emblazoned with the tagline "Human Awakening," features the severely damaged head of Kamen Rider Gills, creating a truly impactful atmosphere. What could the remnants of Gills signify in this world of awakened psychics? We can't wait to find out.
Many Kamen Rider fans are undoubtedly hyped for this 55th anniversary theatrical film. We're all eager to see what surprises "Agito - Psychic War -" will bring as it unfolds this brand-new chapter!
