Marvel Studios' first series of the year, "Wonder Man," has garnered widespread critical acclaim since its debut on Disney+ late last month. Critics and audiences alike have praised the show for forgoing heavy CGI in favor of a captivating, grounded, small-scale story.
The praise for "Wonder Man" isn't just coming from external sources, but also from within Marvel's own ranks. Iman Vellani, who plays Ms. Marvel in the MCU, recently penned a glowing review for "Wonder Man" on her Letterboxd account. "If my four-star rating isn't convincing enough, let me list a few reasons to ease your doubts!" she wrote. "If you like movies, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you like movies about the film industry, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you're a fan of 'Midnight Cowboy,' go watch 'Wonder Man'."

She continued: "If you've seen every Marvel project — or none at all — go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you prefer superheroes whose civilian identity comes first and their superhero identity second, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you have a soft spot for mentor-mentee buddy comedies, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you've forgotten what sincerity feels like, go watch 'Wonder Man'."
"If you miss Ben Kingsley performing Uh-merica, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you crave a lighthearted, un-boring movie, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you appreciate some excellent music choices, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you miss the MCU's old grounded, slightly weird, small-scale, and a little bit sad vibe, or if you've been feeling empty lately and don't know how to fill it — congratulations, you've found the cure, go watch 'Wonder Man.' If you like projects made by people who genuinely care about quality, nurtured for an audience who genuinely cares, go watch 'Wonder Man.' That's all I'm going to say... just go watch 'Wonder Man'!" She added a playful note: "(Note: This was written from a place of genuine joy, with no Kevins or people named Feige looking over my shoulder.)"
