Q Hayashida's manga series Dorohedoro (ドロヘドロ) was adapted into a TV anime back in 2020. After a long hiatus, the production of a sequel was finally announced in early 2024, sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation.
Today (Feb 8), the official announcement dropped: Dorohedoro Season 2 is locked in for an April 2026 premiere! It's set to hit Netflix and other major platforms almost simultaneously worldwide. The announcement also came with a brand-new second key visual, featuring main characters like Caiman and Nikaido.
Dorohedoro (ドロヘドロ) plunges us into a world where two realms coexist: "The Hole," inhabited by ordinary humans, and the world of sorcerers. Sorcerers, though similar in appearance to humans, are a species created by the devil Chidaruma, possessing organs that produce "smoke"—the source of their magic. Our protagonist, Caiman, is one of magic's victims, his head transformed into a lizard. To reclaim his lost memories, he embarks on a sorcerer hunt with his companion Nikaido.
The 2020 anime adaptation, produced by MAPPA and directed by Yuichiro Hayashi, was nothing short of a miracle, earning rave reviews. Fans have been clamoring for a sequel ever since. Now, after a six-year wait, it's finally happening! The new season is confirmed to launch in Spring 2026, with a global simultaneous release!
This season will also be produced by MAPPA, with Yuichiro Hayashi returning to direct. Wataru Takagi, the voice of Caiman, expressed his excitement, saying, "It feels truly wonderful to return to that chaotic and insane world after six years."
Reina Kondo, who voices Nikaido, also shared her enthusiasm: "I absolutely love this series. The recording sessions for the first season had such a fun and exciting atmosphere. This second season has even more characters, and many scenes I've been looking forward to are finally being animated. I'm genuinely thrilled!"
With the official confirmation for an April 2026 premiere, it's safe to say fans have been waiting for this one! Let's see if MAPPA can deliver another jaw-dropping experience after six years!
