After a four-year hiatus, "Minions & Monsters," the third installment in the "Minions" spin-off series from "Despicable Me," is set to dominate the summer box office this year. Universal Pictures, the distributor, today unveiled the first trailer and a teaser poster (pictured below) during the Super Bowl broadcast.
Pierre Coffin, who co-directed the first three "Despicable Me" films and the original "Minions" movie, returns to helm this installment. Brian Lynch, co-writer of the previous two films, also returns to pen the screenplay.

This installment follows the Minions on their quest for Hollywood stardom. To make their dream monster movie, they decide to forgo special effects and instead summon real monsters as actors. Their first summon is Cthulhu, one of the Great Old Ones. However, finding Cthulhu not menacing enough, the Minions enlist him to guide them in awakening other monsters around the world.
Coffin himself once again voices the Minions in "Minions & Monsters." The rest of the voice cast has not yet been announced. The film is slated for a North American release on July 1st this year.
