Last December, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that "The Fast Saga" director Justin Lin would helm the planned live-action adaptation of their sci-fi action shooter game "Helldivers." Now, the film has found its lead, with Jason Momoa confirmed to star. The official release date has also been set for November 10, 2027, suggesting that production will commence in the near future.

Momoa has recently become a prominent figure in video game adaptations. Last year, he starred in "A Minecraft Movie," which grossed over $950 million worldwide. This year, his live-action "Street Fighter" film is set to hit theaters, followed by "Helldivers" in 2027. This marks three consecutive years of major video game adaptations for Momoa.
Gary Dauberman, known for writing the "It" series and the "Annabelle" trilogy, is penning the script for the film. Additional cast members are expected to be announced in the near future.
