Luciana posted on Duvall's official Facebook page, stating: "Yesterday, we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our generation. Robert passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. To the world, he was an Oscar winner, a director, a storyteller, but to me, he was everything. His passion for the art of acting was matched only by his love for characters, good food, and social gatherings. Robert poured his heart into every role, embodying the true essence of humanity they represented, and in doing so, he left us all with eternal and unforgettable memories. Thank you for your years of support for Robert, and thank you for granting us this time and privacy to cherish his beautiful memory."

Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, both fellow cast members from "The Godfather" saga, promptly released statements mourning their longtime friend. Pacino remarked, "It was my honor to work with Robert Duvall. As people say, he was a natural actor. His dedication, understanding of performance, and his extraordinary talent will always be remembered. I will miss him." De Niro added, "God bless him. I hope I live to be 95 myself. Rest in peace."
