Two years ago, Academy Award winner Emma Stone and her husband, comedy writer-director Dave McCary, began developing an untitled film with Universal Pictures. McCary was set to direct, with Stone starring, and "Stranger Things" director-producer Shawn Levy producing through his company, 21 Laps. Now, after two years in development, the project has a title and a potential male lead.

Deadline recently exclusively reported that the film is titled "The Catch" and is a romantic comedy. Chris Pine is currently in negotiations to join the cast. The screenplay is penned by the writing duo Patrick Kang and Michael Levin, though specific plot details have not yet been officially disclosed.
Beyond their starring and directing duties, Stone and McCary will also serve as producers through their co-founded production company, Fruit Tree.
