The preferred qualifications? Think "experience in animal and plant ecology research" and "proficiency in both Japanese and English." Naturally, these requirements immediately sparked a frenzy online, with many pointing out that it sounds exactly like they're recruiting a real-life "Professor" straight out of the Pokémon world!
Once the job posting hit the internet, the demand for PhDs in science, engineering, and agriculture had everyone buzzing about what kind of research The Pokémon Company is actually aiming for. Turns out, the person who originally shared the post was none other than illustrator Chihiro Kinoshita. She's an agricultural PhD herself, specializing in marine animals like sea turtles, behavioral ecology, and diving physiology. Besides illustrating a ton of animal ecology books, she's also the artist behind the "Pokémon Ecological Illustrated Book." She works alongside Yoshiaki Yonehara, another agricultural PhD at The Pokémon Company, so basically, they're just looking for a new colleague!

You get 1 million JPY upon joining, and then another 1 million JPY every March thereafter. This bonus is for any PhD holder, regardless of which department they're assigned to.
