Since acquiring MGM Studios and its coveted James Bond franchise rights in 2021, Amazon has been actively developing Bond-related film and television projects. While a new iteration of the iconic 007 film series has yet to materialize, Amazon previously launched the Bond-themed competition reality show "007's Road to a Million." Now, the streamer is set to expand its Bond universe with a new meta-comedy series titled "Bait."
The series' meta-narrative centers on an actor's absurd experiences auditioning to become the next James Bond. Amazon dropped the first trailer and key art (pictured below) for "Bait" last night. The series is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 25.

The series is written by and stars British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed, who earned an Academy Award nomination for "Sound of Metal." Ahmed also serves as the series creator and executive producer. Bassam Tariq, director of "These Birds Walk," and Tom George, director of "See How They Run," helmed the episodes.
The official synopsis reads: The story follows Shaara Latif, a struggling actor on the brink of giving up on his career. A once-in-a-lifetime audition becomes his last shot at making it big. Over four chaotic days, we witness his life spiral out of control as his family, ex-girlfriend, and the entire world question his ability to handle the job.
