The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed today that James Wan, the acclaimed director behind "The Conjuring" and "Aquaman" franchises, is set to helm the American remake of the hit South Korean action film "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil." Wan will also serve as a co-producer through his Atomic Monster banner.

The U.S. remake rights for "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil" were originally acquired in 2019 by Sylvester Stallone's Balboa Productions. In 2022, it was confirmed that Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok), the star of the original Korean film, would reprise his role.

While the initial script for the American version of "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil" was penned by "A Knight's Tale" director Brian Helgeland, a new draft is now being written by Shay Hatten, co-writer of the "Army of the Dead" franchise and "Rebel Moon" duology. Helgeland will still retain a producer credit. Paramount Pictures is set to handle distribution.
