Capcom's latest survival horror hit, "Resident Evil Requiem," has dropped, and while the story's got everyone talking, it's protagonist Leon S. Kennedy's love life that's really set the internet ablaze. Things got even wilder recently when screenshots surfaced, claiming director Koshi Nakanishi had spilled the beans on Leon's spouse. But Nakanishi quickly stepped in, warning fans that those messages might be doctored, kicking off a whole new level of drama.
In "Requiem," an unlockable concept art piece clearly shows Leon is married. Then, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment during the game's ending, he appears to slip a wedding ring back on after wrapping up a mission. This juicy tidbit sent players into a frenzy, sparking massive speculation about who Leon's mystery wife could be. The top contenders? Fan favorites Ada Wong or Claire Redfield, both major players from previous installments.
Desperate for answers, a horde of players took straight to social media, bombarding director Koshi Nakanishi with questions. Soon after, a series of screenshots allegedly showing Nakanishi's replies started circulating online. These messages seemed to hint that the answer was already out there. One supposed reply from Nakanishi read: "Requiem doesn't explicitly state it, but if you've played the previous games, you should be able to guess." Another comment chimed in with: "You already know the answer, don't you?" Naturally, some fans took this as a strong hint that Leon ultimately tied the knot with Ada.
However, Koshi Nakanishi later took to his Instagram Stories to set the record straight, stating he had been "alerted to edited message screenshots circulating online." Nakanishi warned that some of the content being shared might not be original messages, or could even be stitched together from multiple conversations, urging fans to approach such information with caution.
It's still unclear whether Nakanishi was referring to entirely fabricated messages or screenshots that were re-edited to create a misleading narrative. With no further official clarification, the identity of Leon's spouse remains the ultimate mystery, keeping fans buzzing with theories.
