TYPE-MOON studio BB first unveiled the in-development remake RPG, Fate/EXTRA Record, at "FGO Fes. 2024" back in August 2024. Last July, fans were asked to hold tight as the release was pushed to Spring 2026.
But hold up! Today (3/16) brings more bad news: the official word is another delay. Not only that, but the publisher is changing, meaning Bandai Namco Entertainment's plans to distribute the game are officially off the table. Right now, there's no new release date in sight.
"Fate/EXTRA Record" is a full remake of the original "Fate/EXTRA," the first RPG in the "Fate" series, which launched on PSP in 2010. It plunges players into the virtual realm of "SE.RA.PH," a space crafted by the Spiritron Computer "Mooncell Automaton," where mages and Heroic Spirits ignite a new Holy Grail War on the moon.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has decided to discontinue sales of "Fate/EXTRA Record," which was originally slated for a Spring 2026 release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam. We sincerely apologize to all players who have been eagerly anticipating the game's launch. Furthermore, all orders for this product placed through ASOBI STORE will be uniformly canceled.

"Fate/EXTRA Record" was initially planned for a 2025 release, but in July 2025, it was already pushed back to Spring 2026, with pre-orders even opening up. Now, due to "adjustments in the development and publishing structure," it's getting another delay.
The decision was made to completely re-evaluate the entire development system, including adjusting the development framework and considering future operational and growth directions. This also means a change in publisher. The official statement further clarifies that due to these adjustments, the game's release date will be postponed. Development is still ongoing, and details regarding the new publisher and release date will be announced once confirmed.
