Last month, during the Super Bowl, the "Despicable Me" spin-off series "Minions" released its first trailer and promotional poster for its third installment, "Minions & Monsters." The full voice cast list was subsequently unveiled yesterday.
Joining the star-studded ensemble this time are Allison Janney, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Jesse Eisenberg, Christoph Waltz, and "South Park" co-creator and lead voice actor Trey Parker.
The film sees the Minions venturing into Hollywood, determined to make their dream monster movie without relying on special effects. Instead, they summon real monsters to act in their film. Their first summon is Cthulhu, but finding him not menacing enough, the Minions convince Cthulhu to help them awaken other monsters around the world.
"Minions & Monsters" sees the return of Pierre Coffin, co-director of the first three "Despicable Me" films and the first "Minions" movie, at the helm. Brian Lynch, co-writer of the previous two installments, also returns to pen the screenplay. Coffin himself will continue to voice the Minions. The film is slated for a July 1 release in North America.
