Ryan Gosling Confirms Marvel Talks for "Ghost Rider" Role; Actor Says Discussions Are "Complicated"

Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling recently confirmed that he has been in contact with Marvel Studios to discuss the possibility of portraying the iconic character "Ghost Rider," sparking significant fan interest in the future character lineup of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When asked about the latest developments regarding these rumors during an interview on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Gosling responded, "We'll keep hoping. There have been some discussions, but the overall situation is quite complicated." This statement confirms that the two parties have moved beyond mere speculation and have had initial contact, though a concrete collaboration has not yet been reached.

In fact, Gosling publicly expressed his desire to play Ghost Rider as early as 2022, receiving a positive response from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at the time. Feige had stated that if Ryan wanted to play Ghost Rider, he was incredible, and Feige would be happy to find a place for him in the MCU. This comment was once seen as a significant signal for potential collaboration.

However, several years have passed, and the related plans have yet to materialize. Analysts suggest that the sheer volume of characters in recent MCU productions, especially with the upcoming "Avengers" films gathering numerous existing heroes and returning characters, including classic teams like the X-Men, has limited the space for new additions. Nevertheless, "Avengers: Secret Wars," slated for release in 2027, is seen as a potential opportunity to introduce more new characters and iterations.

Looking back, Ghost Rider is no stranger to live-action adaptations. Nicolas Cage previously portrayed Johnny Blaze in the 2007 film "Ghost Rider" and its sequel, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." Gabriel Luna also took on the Robbie Reyes version in the series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." These different interpretations of the character have left fans eagerly anticipating how the MCU will approach the role in the future.
