The cast includes Samoan-Australian newcomer Catherine Laga'aia as Moana. Dwayne Johnson, who voiced Maui in the animated film, reprises his role and also serves as a producer. Jared Bush, co-writer of the first two animated "Moana" films, and Dana Ledoux Miller, co-writer of the second animated film, are penning the screenplay for the live-action adaptation.
