As a film set in the high-stakes world of fashion, "The Devil Wears Prada" naturally features a parade of models. From Gisele Bündchen's memorable cameo chatting with Emily Blunt in the original to the countless background extras, models are an indispensable presence. However, the highly anticipated sequel, arriving two decades after the original, faces a vastly different landscape of societal beauty standards. These evolving perceptions have directly influenced the casting criteria for models in the new film.

In a recent cover story interview with lead actress Anne Hathaway published by "Harper's Bazaar" magazine, it's common for such features to include insights from colleagues who have worked with the subject. Meryl Streep, who co-starred with Hathaway in both "The Devil Wears Prada" films, revealed a significant detail: Hathaway specifically requested that the production team avoid casting overly thin models for the upcoming sequel.

Streep recalled her astonishment last year when she attended Milan Fashion Week with the production team. She observed that the models present were "not only beautiful and young — in my opinion, everyone was very young — but also astonishingly thin." Streep expressed her belief that "this kind of stereotypical standard had been abolished years ago." She then highlighted Hathaway's immediate response, noting that Anne "also noticed this, so she immediately went to talk to the producers to ensure that the models participating in our film's fashion show wouldn't be so bone-thin!" Streep lauded Hathaway's courage, stating, "She's truly a girl who bravely stands up and speaks out."
