Four years after earning Best Director Oscars for their acclaimed hit "Everything Everywhere All at Once," filmmaking duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as The Daniels) recently revealed in an interview that their next feature would also be an "existential" sci-fi action comedy. This morning, the lead actor for the highly anticipated project was officially announced.
Foreign media outlet Deadline reported today that Ryan Gosling, who is set to star in the upcoming "Project Hail Mary," has been cast as the lead. With production slated to begin this summer in Los Angeles, further casting announcements are expected soon. While the film's title and plot details remain under wraps, distributor Universal Pictures has already secured a prime Thanksgiving holiday release slot, targeting November 19 of next year.

Given the film's four-year development period, Daniel Kwan elaborated on the extensive timeline during a recent interview at SXSW. He explained that one reason for the prolonged development was the complex, nuanced, and often contradictory nature of the world they perceive and hear. Integrating all these elements into a cohesive film, he noted, simply takes time. Kwan drew an analogy, stating that while some trees grow quickly in a few years, others require much longer, and their creative process sometimes demands even more patience.
