Carlo Zen's light novel series, Saga of Tanya the Evil, got its TV anime adaptation back in 2017. For years, fans waited for news of a second season, and finally, last November, it was officially confirmed! Now, after a nine-year hiatus, the anime is making its grand return.
At Anime Japan 2026, the official premiere date was locked in for July 2026, alongside the reveal of the first key visual and a brand-new promotional video! Plus, new characters voiced by Tomokazu Sugita and Yoko Hikasa are joining the cast. Japanese fans can also catch a re-run of the first season starting this April.

"Saga of Tanya the Evil" follows an elite Japanese salaryman from the early 21st century. His extreme rationalism earned him an enemy, leading to his untimely demise. After death, a self-proclaimed "Being X" (God) reincarnates him as an abandoned orphan named Tanya Degurechaff in a war-torn magical world. Armed with hyper-realism and ruthless logical tactics, Tanya fights to survive the brutal battlefield.

The newly released key visual features Tanya (CV: Aoi Yuuki) leading her combat unit, alongside core members who've fought by her side since their days in the "Imperial Army 203rd Air Mage Battalion": Visha (CV: Saori Hayami), Weiss (CV: Daiki Hamano), and Grantz (CV: Yuusuke Kobayashi).

The new characters and their voice actors for Season 2 have also been unveiled: Mikel of the Federation Army will be voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, and Lilia by Yoko Hikasa.

And in the , besides Tanya and her squad's intense combat scenes, we also get glimpses of the Imperial Army General Staff's commanders and the multinational volunteer forces fiercely opposing the Empire. Clearly, after a nine-year wait, the production team isn't holding back – fans are in for a treat!
Many fans have been eagerly anticipating Season 2 for ages, so stay tuned for more official updates on its broadcast schedule!
