Last month, the production team behind the new film "As Deep as the Grave" announced their use of AI-generated technology to feature Val Kilmer in the movie. Today, the film has finally released its first trailer.

Writer-director Coerte Voorhees previously stated that Kilmer had agreed to star in the film five years ago, but his severe throat cancer at the time prevented him from participating in the shoot. Voorhees acknowledged the controversy surrounding AI use, but clarified that he did not unauthorizedly appropriate Kilmer's likeness. Kilmer's children have also confirmed that Voorhees indeed secured their authorization.

"As Deep as the Grave" follows an archaeologist couple as they excavate Canyon de Chelly in Arizona, attempting to trace the history of the Native American Navajo people. In addition to Kilmer, the cast includes Finn Jones, known for "Marvel's Iron Fist," Abigail Breslin, Tom Felton from the "Harry Potter" series, and Ewen Bremner, among others.

Production for the film spanned six years due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has now finally wrapped. While an official release date has yet to be set, the film is confirmed to debut sometime this year.
