Mikami En's award-winning mystery novel series, "Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō" (illustrated by Hagu Ueshima), has already seen live-action drama and film adaptations.
But now, get ready! On April 22, it was officially announced that the beloved series is getting a TV anime adaptation! A teaser PV and visual have dropped, with CloverWorks taking the helm for a 2027 broadcast.
"Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō" centers around the unassuming old bookstore, Biblia Antiquarian Bookshop, tucked away in a quiet corner of Kita-Kamakura. Its elegant owner, Shioriko Shinokawa, isn't just beautiful; she's a walking encyclopedia of old books with an uncanny knack for deduction. With just a few clues left behind by a book's previous owner, she can unravel strangers' hidden pasts and secrets.
One day, unemployed young man Daisuke Goura, who struggles with reading, asks Shioriko to appraise a collection of books left by his late grandmother. This leads him to uncover a little-known story, and soon after, he becomes a clerk at the bookstore, setting the stage for their unique tale.
This anime adaptation is part of a major project celebrating the series' 15th publication anniversary! Known for its captivating mysteries woven around "old books," the franchise has already charmed audiences with its live-action drama and film. Now, it's finally time for the anime to shine!
For the anime, Riko Akechi will voice the female lead, Shioriko Shinokawa, while Shunsuke Takeuchi takes on the role of male lead, Daisuke Goura. Directing duties fall to Mamoru Kanbe, known for his work on "The Promised Neverland," with CloverWorks handling the animation production.
Original author Mikami En expressed his excitement, stating, "My long-held wish has finally come true, and I'm truly moved." He also noted that the production team and voice actors are treating the original work with great care, adding, "As the original author, I can confidently leave it in their hands."
Many fans have been eagerly awaiting this anime adaptation, and with a 2027 broadcast now confirmed, the wait is almost over! Stay tuned for more official updates as they drop.
