"Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the anime film that hit theaters in 2024, was a massive hit. As the long-awaited finale after nearly two decades, it drew in legions of fans and became the highest-grossing Gundam theatrical release in history.
Today (May 15) at the "GUNDAM CONFERENCE SPRING 2026" event, Bandai Namco officially dropped a bombshell: the previously announced prequel to "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," titled "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO," is officially confirmed as a theatrical anime film! And to top it off, they simultaneously unleashed a brand-new teaser trailer.
"Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO" will bridge the gap between "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY" and "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM." According to the official announcement, the story is based on a script co-written by the late Chiaki Morosawa and Shigeru Morita.
