"Avatar" franchise director James Cameron and "Sin City" director Robert Rodriguez forged a strong friendship years ago while collaborating on the live-action manga adaptation "Alita: Battle Angel." Now, they plan to reunite for a new project. Cameron recently revealed that he and Rodriguez are already developing their next film.

Currently promoting his new documentary, "Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D)," Cameron told Empire magazine's podcast that he and Robert Rodriguez are planning a fast-paced film. He stated, "Robert Rodriguez and I are planning a quick film. We're going to shoot the whole thing in 17 days, because I really liked the experience of shooting 'Hit Me Hard and Soft.' I shot a movie in six days, and it made me think, 'Why does any movie take four years?'"

The film Cameron referred to as taking four years to complete is his own "Avatar" series. He further revealed on the program that he now intends to complete "Avatar 4" and "Avatar 5" using "half the usual time and two-thirds of the cost." However, Cameron emphasized that simply figuring out how to achieve this will require "about a year" to establish the new process.
Previously, rumors suggested that Disney was internally discussing how to produce future "Avatar" sequels with "lower costs and greater efficiency." Cameron's recent comments now confirm those reports.
