Sony Reportedly Reversing Course: Future Narrative Single-Player Games to Remain PS5 Exclusives!

Word on the street is that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is shaking up its PC publishing strategy. Future narrative-driven single-player games from PlayStation Studios are reportedly set to remain PlayStation 5 exclusives, ditching the recent trend of PC ports.

Bloomberg's own Jason Schreier recently dropped a bombshell on Bluesky, revealing that PlayStation Studios Head Hermen Hulst confirmed the shift during a company-wide meeting on Monday morning. Hulst reportedly stated that the company's upcoming narrative single-player titles will indeed be PlayStation exclusives. This aligns perfectly with a Bloomberg report from March 2026, which hinted that Sony was already considering pumping the brakes on bringing certain single-player games to PC.

Previous reports suggest Sony's rethink stems from a few factors: PS5 games apparently haven't been hitting the sales targets on PC, and there's internal concern that over-saturating the PC market could dilute the PlayStation brand's value, potentially impacting PS5 and future console sales.

This strategic pivot gains even more traction when you consider Microsoft's next-gen Xbox, codenamed "Project Helix." External reports claim this new console will be able to play both PC and Xbox games, which might make PlayStation execs understandably wary of seeing their flagship titles like God of War pop up on a rival platform.

If these reports hold true, this move could spell the end of PC hopes for highly anticipated titles such as Marvel's Wolverine and Naughty Dog's upcoming "Intergalactic: The Heretic Project."

However, it looks like multiplayer games are safe from this shift. Titles like Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls are likely unaffected, probably because these games thrive on cross-platform communities and maintaining a large, long-term player base. Sony, for its part, hasn't officially announced this strategic change yet.
