Gundam's official fashion label, STRICT-G, has a sub-brand called STRICT-G JAPAN, known for blending traditional Japanese culture and art into its apparel, offering fans a fresh, stylish take on their favorite series.
Now, they're dropping an awesome collaboration based on the enduringly popular "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED"! STRICT-G JAPAN has teamed up with Fukushima Prefecture's renowned traditional craft, Shirakawa Daruma, to transform the iconic Freedom Gundam and Justice Gundam into super unique Daruma figures. You can pre-order them now on Japan's Bandai Premium Bandai website!
So, what's a Shirakawa Daruma? These classic Daruma dolls boast a nearly 300-year history and are officially recognized as a traditional craft from Fukushima Prefecture. Since the late Edo period, they've been cherished as symbols of good fortune and wish fulfillment, and they're still incredibly popular across Japan today.
These limited-edition collab pieces are meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, one by one. They've reimagined Freedom Gundam and Justice Gundam in the distinctive Shirakawa Daruma style, perfectly blending Gundam's iconic features with the rich texture of traditional craftsmanship. Available in two sizes—a 15 cm version and an 8.5 cm version—they're perfect for sprucing up your home decor or gifting as a lucky charm. And here's the cool part: because each Shirakawa Daruma is a unique, handmade traditional craft, every single one will have slight individual differences, adding to its exclusive charm!
