Firesprite officially unveiled "Until Dawn 2" during the PlayStation "State of Play" presentation, confirming the horror adventure sequel will launch on PS5 in 2027 and simultaneously releasing its global debut trailer. Following the 2015 release of the original "Until Dawn" on PS4, this installment will feature a new cast of characters and a standalone story, requiring no prior knowledge of the first game's plot.

"Until Dawn 2" centers on a ghost-hunting team who run the popular paranormal channel "Dead True." Their past "horror" content was mostly staged, having never encountered genuine supernatural phenomena. That changes when they sign with a major TV network and are sent to a deserted tropical island to film a new show, where they confront true terror for the first time.
The island appears to offer sun, sand, and a vacation vibe, but it harbors centuries of accumulated secrets and vengeful spirits. As the complex relationships among the team members surface, their production, initially driven by the pursuit of views and likes, quickly transforms into a desperate fight for survival until dawn.

The developers stated that the game will continue the series' core features, where player choices directly impact the story's progression and character fates. This time, managing relationships between characters will be even more crucial, as not only major decisions but also subtle interactions can trigger a butterfly effect, leading to unpredictable consequences.
Firesprite stated that many members of their team are fans of the original "Until Dawn," and thus, during development, they are striving to preserve the series' DNA, including character drama, difficult choices, and classic horror elements. The trailer also confirmed the return of the mysterious Dr. Hill, once again portrayed by Peter Stormare. Further details on the story, gameplay, and characters will be revealed progressively before launch.
