At Summer Game Fest 2026, one of the world's biggest gaming showcases held on June 6, CAPCOM officially announced that the latest installment in the "Resident Evil" series, "Resident Evil RE: Code Veronica," is set to launch in 2027. The reveal came with its first-ever trailer.
This classic from 26 years ago is getting a full-blown remake, returning to eager fans with a fresh new shock. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.

Originally released in 2000, the "Resident Evil Code: Veronica" spin-off revolutionized horror with its more dynamic camera work and 3D environment design, significantly amplifying the terror. The story centers on the Redfield siblings: Claire Redfield and Chris Redfield.
Beyond the series' signature resource management and survival elements, the game also packed in richer adventure and exploration, plus the innovative mechanic of switching playable characters between segments. Even after all these years, many players still hail it as one of the most iconic entries in the "Resident Evil" saga.

Officials state that while preserving the original's core experience, the remake will introduce modernized controls, re-orchestrated story content, and cutting-edge next-gen graphics.
