Last November, while the final season of "Stranger Things" was in full swing, reports surfaced alleging a conflict between David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Hopper, and series star Millie Bobby Brown, who portrays Eleven. The rumors claimed Brown had complained to Netflix, accusing Harbour of bullying and harassment.
While Brown stated in a later interview that she has known the cast and crew for nearly a decade and feels safe at work, seemingly smoothing things over, Harbour has now offered a more nuanced perspective in a new feature interview with Variety.

Harbour began by noting that he found the timing and manner of the leak to be strange. "This show has been going on for ten years. We’ve played father and daughter for a decade, throughout her entire adolescence," he explained. "I don’t know if anyone has the experience I have, which is being in an intimate relationship with a group of people for ten years, but arguments and disagreements happen. If it happens in your house, it’s not a big deal, because you just have a disagreement and you make up. But when you’re on a multi-billion dollar television show, there are just so many people involved that it becomes a whole thing."

Harbour continued, "The resolution is very simple. It’s just a simple rupture and repair. Once we got everyone out of the way and just talked to each other, it was fine. People are so scared now to talk about certain things. People are so scared to be human. It’s unfortunate, because I don’t know how to navigate this weird media world. But it’s a very normal process, and Millie and I love each other, and we always have."
In the same interview, Brown also reiterated to Variety her gratitude for Harbour's presence over the years, noting that their long history of working together allows them to push each other to deliver their best emotional performances in the final season. Harbour also revealed that fans can expect to see them share the screen again in the future. "I’ll just say it, Millie and I are developing a couple of things... you will see more of Millie and I working together. Ten years isn't enough. We have a special connection, and I love her and she loves me."
