The Sagrada Familia, a cathedral under construction for over a century, recently held a completion ceremony for its main tower. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of architect Antoni Gaudi's death, this monumental event featured a solemn atmosphere, a meticulously designed drone light show, and performances. However, it was the grand finale fireworks display that truly set X (formerly Twitter) ablaze.
Japanese netizen "やみえん(@Yamien_san)" shared on X that during the Sagrada Familia's main tower completion ceremony, as the conductor, bathed in dazzling lights, announced the end of the performance, a drone formation of Gaudi's face appeared in the sky. Immediately after, a massive barrage of fireworks erupted, a sight that made them burst out laughing.
Another netizen quickly posted photos: one showing the drone-formed Gaudi portrait above the Sagrada Familia, and another capturing the huge fireworks exploding right in front of the cathedral. They described the scene as looking like "Gaudi watching the Sagrada Familia, which he finally managed to build, get blown to smithereens right before his eyes."
Naturally, some netizens immediately drew parallels to the frequent explosion scenes in the "Detective Conan" movies, hilariously Photoshopping the text "Original by Gosho Aoyama" onto the altered images. Others chuckled, noting that the drone-formed Gaudi's expression, a quizzical "Hmm?", was somehow adorable.

What was meant to be a solemn and sacred main tower completion ceremony unexpectedly transformed into the "Sagrada Familia Big Explosion" in the eyes of Japanese netizens, all thanks to the fireworks' viewing angle making it look like a demolition site. But hold your horses – while the main tower is complete, other detailed finishing touches are still underway. The entire building isn't expected to be truly finished for another decade or so. Talk about a long wait!
