Hololive's 4th-generation VTuber, Tokoyami Towa (常闇トワ), hit her X account on June 24 with some heavy news, informing fans that she had been rushed to the hospital due to sudden illness.
She's decided to put all activities on hold for the rest of June, focusing entirely on treatment and rest. As for July and beyond, her return will depend on her recovery and follow-up check-ups.
Towa revealed that on the morning of June 21, she was suddenly struck by intense dizziness and vertigo, so severe she couldn't even stand or walk, which led to an emergency dash to the hospital. Fellow Hololive member Shirakami Fubuki (白上フブキ) was right there with her, and her manager quickly arrived to help out.
After hospital tests, doctors are eyeing Ménière's disease as the culprit and advised her to rest until the end of the month. Following discussions with her agency, she's officially hitting pause on all activities for the remainder of June to prioritize treatment and recovery. Her comeback will hinge on further diagnoses and how well she recovers.
Tokoyami Towa also specifically mentioned that she had to pull out of the "VTuber Saikyo Ketteisen Ver. STREET FIGHTER 6" esports tournament on the day of the event. She sent out heartfelt apologies to the organizer Shibuya HAL (渋谷ハル), her teammates, her supportive fans, and all the staff involved.
She stated, "I really wanted to compete until the very end, but given my condition at the time, there was no way I could have played."
(Towa's recent streams had been all about practicing for the "VTuber Saikyo Ketteisen Ver. STREET FIGHTER 6" to get ready for the V Saikyo tournament.)

Regarding her current condition, Towa shared that medication has helped her recover enough to walk on her own. However, she still experiences dizziness and loss of balance whenever she turns her head.
Reassuring her fans, she said, "My body is slowly recovering, and I'm starting to be able to move a bit. There's no danger to my life, so please don't worry about that. For now, I'll focus on resting and treatment, hoping to return to you all healthy and energetic."

After the news broke, a flood of Hololive members, fellow VTubers, and fans swarmed the comments section, pouring out their love and support with messages like, "Please take care of yourself," "Don't push it," and "We'll wait until you're fully recovered."

Ménière's disease is a condition affecting the inner ear's balance system. Common symptoms include sudden, intense vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, nausea, vomiting, and even a loss of balance. When symptoms flare up, they can severely disrupt daily life, making it impossible to stand or walk, thus requiring ample rest and ongoing treatment.
For VTubers who stream frequently, wear headphones for extended periods, and need high levels of concentration, these symptoms are particularly impactful. Notably, former Hololive member Amane Kanata (天音かなた) also suffered from this condition.
Fingers crossed Tokoyami Towa gets all the rest she needs and makes a full recovery before returning to the streaming stage!
