Netflix’s original animated film, “Cosmic Princess Kaguya!”, made waves with its global exclusive release before hitting Japanese cinemas. What started as a “limited one-week run” stretched into nearly four months, marking a rare box office triumph for a streaming-first title!
Now, distributor Twin Engine has announced a brand-new manga series, “Super Kaguya Meshi!” (超かぐやメシ!), launching on their fresh web manga platform, “Bibibi Comic.” This exciting spin-off picks up the story a full “10 years after” the main film!

“Bibibi Comic” is Twin Engine’s latest venture, born from their collaboration with Bandai. The platform already boasts 31 diverse titles, and with Twin Engine’s reputation for stellar anime planning, fans are buzzing with anticipation for more cross-media projects!
While primarily a web manga platform, Twin Engine is also celebrating the launch with a physical “Bibibi Comic Inaugural Issue,” now available in bookstores across Japan. The cover features a stunning visual centered on Kaguya and Iroha from “Super Kaguya Meshi!”, alongside characters from all the new serialized works, complete with plenty of bonus goodies!

To amp up the celebration, an awesome commemorative PV has also dropped, directed by Kenji Iwaisawa (known for “100 meters.”) and produced by his animation studio, Rock’n Roll Mountain.
Among the exciting new lineup, “Super Kaguya Meshi!” is undoubtedly stealing the spotlight. This marks the first official spin-off manga for “Cosmic Princess Kaguya!”, with its story unfolding “10 years after” the events of the movie. That means it picks up almost immediately after the film’s ending, diving into what happens after our heroes supposedly lived “happily ever after.”
As the title “Super Kaguya Meshi!” suggests, this new series centers around a “daily life × food” theme, promising a fresh take with a strong emphasis on delicious cuisine and the joy of eating. Expect mouth-watering dishes, all while retaining the original film’s signature humor and lighthearted comedic flair!

Manga artist Teruya is handling the artwork, while the story is adapted from a concept and outline provided by the film’s director, Shingo Yamashita. So, while it’s technically a spin-off, it’s officially positioned as a true “continuation” of “Cosmic Princess Kaguya!”

A special chapter of “Super Kaguya Meshi!” is already live on the official “Bibibi Comic” website, with Chapter 1 slated for an early September update. Coincidentally, September also brings the Blu-ray release and a revival screening of “Cosmic Princess Kaguya!”, making it the perfect time for fans to enjoy both the film and its exciting new sequel!
