Hitting its fourth anniversary, the "ONE PIECE Card Game" has become an absolute powerhouse in the card game scene, drawing in more and more players and cementing its status as a rising star in the market.
Get ready, "ONE PIECE" Card Game fans! The official store just dropped a bombshell on August 10, announcing that a facial recognition system will be rolling out on August 22 for all product sales. Why the high-tech move? It's all about "providing fair purchase opportunities for all customers," and preparations are currently underway. Moving forward, when purchasing "ONE PIECE" Card Game related products, the official store will temporarily acquire and verify customers' facial information.

The official statement also specifically emphasized that any facial information acquired will absolutely not be used for any purpose other than product sales. This rather uncommon facial recognition mechanism will officially be in use for product sales starting August 22.
The official statement reads: "We will continue to strive to create an environment where everyone can safely enjoy the ONE PIECE Card Game official store, and we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation."

This isn't Bandai's first foray into advanced verification, either. Just last week, on August 5, Bandai announced plans to introduce a "Personal ID Card" verification system for its "BANDAI TCG+" collectible card game brand. The initial rollout, starting in September, will be for official event registrations in Japan, with future plans to explore broader applications.
"BANDAI TCG+" is home to a whole fleet of popular card games, including "ONE PIECE Card Game," "Digimon Card Game," "UNION ARENA," "Gundam Card Game," "Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World," and the long-running "Battle Spirits."

And there's more! The new "ONE PIECE" official flagship store, "ONE PIECE BASE SHOP," which opened in Shinjuku, Tokyo, already implemented its own "facial recognition system" back in June. That move was specifically aimed at cracking down on scalpers and unauthorized entries, ultimately hoping to boost the overall shopping experience and curb the rampant resale market.
Clearly, the official word is that these mechanisms are effective in managing consumer quality, as this marks the second official store to implement such a measure.

Now, for "ONE PIECE Card Game" players, if you're hitting up a non-official store, you won't run into this. But if you're planning a trip to an official spot in the future, keep these new rules in mind!
