8-Year-Old Daughter “Graduates” from Pretty Cure, Leaves Her Transformation Toy Collection in Dad’s Room — Fans Plead: “Don’t Throw Them Away!”

When a kid moves on from Pretty Cure, does Dad automatically inherit the entire collection? A photo showing a floor covered with transformation items from multiple generations of the franchise has recently drawn attention on X in Japan. Faced with this massive collection suddenly changing hands, commenters had one overwhelming request: keep everything safe—and whatever you do, don't throw it away.

X user “Nyan” (@beat8175) shared that his eight-year-old daughter had officially “graduated” from Pretty Cure. According to the father, she had previously watched her way through the franchise on Prime Video, but recently told him, “I don't need these anymore, so just put them in Dad's room.” The accompanying photo shows a huge assortment of transformation devices, weapons and character toys neatly spread across the floor, filling almost the entire frame.

Since Pretty Cure first began airing in 2004, each new series has been accompanied by a fresh range of transformation devices, weapons and other toys. The collection in the photo spans several different entries in the franchise. Some fans quickly spotted merchandise from Healin' Good♥Pretty Cure, while others identified items from shows that aired more than a decade ago. Before long, the replies had transformed from a discussion about parenting and growing up into a full-blown game of identifying vintage Pretty Cure toys.

What began as a father simply documenting the moment his daughter moved on from a childhood favorite ended up striking an unexpectedly emotional chord online. Some commenters described the toys as companions that had grown alongside their young owner and had now finally completed their mission. Others suggested that the girl may simply have discovered something new she wants to devote her attention to. She has moved on to her next interest, while all the equipment from her previous adventure has now been entrusted to Dad.

But sentimental feelings aside, one message dominated the replies: “Don't throw them away.” Comments such as “Please keep every single one,” “She'll be so emotional seeing these again when she's older,” and “She might come back to Pretty Cure someday” appeared one after another. Some users pointed out that this might only be a temporary break, and that years from now she could rediscover the franchise and start searching for the toys she loved as a child.

The replies also drew plenty of adults speaking from experience, having gotten rid of childhood toys only to regret it years later. Things that once seemed unnecessary can be surprisingly difficult to replace as an adult—either because they have long since been discontinued or because secondhand prices are nothing like they used to be. Some commenters also noted that certain older items visible in the photo could likely attract serious interest from collectors on auction and resale sites.

For this dad, however, keeping the collection safely “sealed away” in his room seems like the safest option for now. No one knows whether his daughter will eventually rediscover her love for Pretty Cure, but one thing is already certain: Dad's room has officially been upgraded into a storage vault for generations of Pretty Cure toys.
